Masjid Muhammad, the only mosque in Cartagena, Colombia, needs our help to keep its doors open for the local Muslim community.
The United Foundation for Global Development (UFGD) is raising awareness and support for Masjid Muhammad in Cartagena, Colombia, which is currently struggling to meet its approximately $3,000 monthly rent.
For years, the masjid’s main founder provided significant financial support to keep the mosque operating. He has now stepped down and can no longer carry that responsibility.
Imam Umar has taken over leadership of Masjid Muhammad, but raising enough money locally to cover the mosque’s monthly expenses has been difficult. He has reached out for help from the wider Muslim community.

For the Muslim community in Cartagena, Masjid Muhammad is much more than a rented building.
It is a place where Muslims can perform their daily prayers, gather for Jumu’ah, learn about Islam, read and study the Qur’an, and build a stronger Muslim community.
As the only masjid in Cartagena, keeping Masjid Muhammad open is especially important for Muslims living in the city as well as Muslim visitors and travelers searching for a place to pray while visiting Cartagena.
